It is hard for me to review this book because I hardly ever read literary fiction. If the book were a thriller or suspense book I would have to say it started very slowly and continued slowly until about three quarters of the way through. Maybe that is okay for literary fiction but not for thrillers or suspense. I'll admit I almost gave up, but I have a particular interest in animal rights novels, which are rare. For that reason, I kept reading. About three quarter way through the protagonist had a dangerous adventure. That was when the book became really interesting, more thriller like. One thing I notice about David's books is that they are well researched, and he includes bits of information that are new for me. A gift because it is really hard to keep up with the numerous animal issues.I would suggest that if the author writes more novels involving animal issues he tries to speed up the action. I will be looking out for the next one.
